New Zealand 2023 TeAraroa NOBO

We liked the TeAraroa so much last time we decided to do it again 😁 This time we are going in the opposite direction. South to North. In hikers terminology we will be NOBOs (North Bound Hobos).

The plan is to head off from Invercargill the last week of November. We decided to leave out some of the boring bits so its only about 1130km. And because we are old farts we will be taking more days off in the towns.

The route

New Zealand will allow us to bring in dehydrated meals provided there is no meat in them. So we have been cooking up the sauce for 60 meals. Once they are done we will dehydrate them along with enough hummus for 60 lunches.

The plan is to post the food on to the Post office in the next town as we hike.

We arrived safe and sound with all our gear in Invercargill. Thanks Air New Zealand and the NZ customs and immigration who checked all our hiking gear and dehydrated food.
